My artwork is visually able to show how a teenage girl’s identity evolves as she looks up to female characters she sees online; by finding comfort in these characters, the girl changes her style as well. Through the use of contrast, juxtaposition, and movement, I was able to further portray a changing identity. By using the heel to step on the old, rusted shoe, I showed progression and a change in a teenage girl’s interests inherited from her favorite online characters.
