Ideas: Teenage girl venturing, new habits, aesthetic, vintage, fall vibes. Materials: A tote bag, a pen, pumpkin patch, books, flare leggings, sweater, and a digital camera. Processes: Dressed up teenage girl as her favorite female character, went to a pumpkin patch. My artwork explores how teenage girls mirror the behaviors and aesthetics of their favorite fictional characters. In this piece, specific details like the pen tucked into the subject’s hair, the presence of a tote bag, and an outfit styled for the fall season demonstrate her transition into a new identity. These elements symbolize the way people who find comfort in a character eventually begin to adopt their specific habits and interests. This connection is most evident in the subject’s decision to visit a pumpkin patch to study, directly emulating the academic lifestyle of Rory Gilmore from the television show Gilmore Girls. I chose to focus on this particular character to celebrate the autumn season and to highlight how media influence transcends a person’s individual background.
